A good days pike fishing
After a day on the pike, it was once the custom to stand guard over the catch - often for several hours - in solemn ceremony. Note the latest Goretex rain gear, which also doubles for a posh night out on the town.
Bringing home the fish
It is sometimes not so obvious how to transfer the catch back to base camp. After using frozen fish as snowshoes for several years, one member accidentally caught a horse as well, and a bit of lateral thinking saved the day... Recent developments in transport saw us trying this with a 4x4, but after taking a couple of hours to secure the fish, we found that the doors wouldn't open
Warm fishing gear - an early development
During travels in Mongolia, the local Ghillies demonstrate their winter woollies. Through many year of careful development, we finally came up with the polar fleece, and now expect everyone to bring their own ...
Catching Chubb
Fishing can become quite an obsession, and its surprising where you can find them... One of our regulars proudly sent us this photo of his recent catch, taken with a 2lb line on the service stairs of John Lewis in Basingstoke.
