Your Barbel Fishing with Master Barbeller John Bailey

2012 barbel fishing is full of mystery and promise and now we have a website once more places are already going fast on all dates, Limited strictly to 8 per course so do book asap.

There are two ways in which Angling Travel really is of benefit to you. The first, obviously, is that you can plug into John Bailey’s 25 years’ experience and techniques and see what makes them very special when it comes to river fishing.

How John Bailey can benefit your barbel fishing?

No one knows barbel, or the river Wye, like John. He has spawned a whole new approach to barbel fishing, which is visual, imaginative and, if you wish, highly mobile.

You can quiver tip if you want, float fish, touch leger...enjoy free-lining, sight-fishing, wading, watercraft. Learn and use skills long forgotten and lost.

Add exquisite scenery, five miles of private water huge numbers of fish are sighted, stalked and, very frequently, successfully landed...On the courses, nab him and ask to fish side by side for a couple of hours. Ask him to talk through exactly what he’s doing and why and you’ll probably find it fascinating.

Even if you disagree—you’ll be sure of a healthy debate and fabulous fishing. Many of John Bailey’s fresh insights, cunning approaches have come from diving and watching and photographing barbel underwater for hours on end. John has lived and breathed the Wye for twenty years and, walking the banks you can sense the enthusiasm, love and experience he has rooted in this wonderful river. If there’s one species John reckons he knows about then its barbel. He’s been addicted for twenty five years and for fifteen of those has been pioneering all manner of new approaches for this fascinating fish.

The second reason Angling Travel is of such a help to you is because we put the leg miles in. You’re probably busy. You don’t have the time to do the exploration yourself. What free time you have, you want to use to its maximum effect. What we can promise you is that we’ll be putting you bang on the barbel. That will give you a total head start. Whether or not you catch them is largely up to you and the conditions. Let’s make 2012 a really special year together.

What about the river?

We at Angling Travel are hugely excited to offer you totally new stretches of river as part of our barbel fishing courses on the Wye, which have rarely if ever before bait fished.

Join us and you will be part of a pioneering team with John Bailey, facing exciting challenges on beautiful near virgin stretches, exploring new swims and stretches. All these new beats are barbel rich and some hold very big fish indeed. They can be approached in the thrilling ways that we love - most especially on the float and even free lining.

Whilst we will still be fishing the varied areas that have made Angling Travel clients happy for over a decade, 2012 offers really thrilling new opportunities for the discerning barbel angler.

Find Your Joy in Barbel Fishing

John says “Summer 2010 was a dream. In 2011, the realisation of months of work came to a close. In 2012 throughout the spring and very early part of the summer I will be walking and prospecting miles of untouched river. A lousy job but someone has got to do it! Roll on the new barbel season! Wye barbel in summer are great. Catch 'em on the float, lead or freelining. Normal baits or naturals. Big fish. big fights. Big thrill.” JB
